B-girls run the world (By Alisha B)
For those of us that don’t know, Asia One is a legendary Bgirl, ciphering around the world with the Rock Steady Crew and the Zulu Nation. Her B-girl steeze is showcased in countless videos, She established the B-Boy Summit (1994) and No Easy Props (1997) and had been featured in countless books, articles, and most recently a documentary, Asia One: Expect the Unexpected. She is a champion, a pioneer and cultural cultivator of Hip Hop from the cypher to the trenches with the youth. Interestingly enough, Asia One is originally from the Mile high city and thus makes her a Mountain Girl_Illa #Salute
Recently, Asia spoke in Denver at an event called What the Bleep happened to Hip Hop, about bring the B-girl that invented the B-boy Summit and how she experienced being rejected by mainstream Hip Hop as a bgirl, and what that motivated her to do. Listen below for MORE
